My love of photography comes from childhood memories of my mum.

Sitting together on the couch she carefully opens a photo album. I listen as she points and tells stories of people in the pictures. Each page turn a different adventure.

Eventually I went into a career working with images. Spending over 15 years, as a print finished artist, helping bring others pictures into the world.

Then one year a camera appeared in my hands.

A totally unprompted birthday gift from my wife. Somehow, up to that point, it honestly never dawned on me to make my pictures.

She’s always been the brains in our outfit.

Over 15 years later, after having photographed corporate headshots, industrial construction sites, and a handful of weddings, I’ve landed on what fills my heart the most.

Giving people pictures of loved ones.

I try my best to find the person behind the posed smile. It often comes the moment they forget the camera is there.

I ask questions, get curious (even with only a few minutes together) and somewhere in that conversation, a true portrait finds itself.

Where I'm At Now

These days I'm based in Colac, South-West Victoria. Drawn here, like most good decisions, by family. I spend a few days a week helping my in-laws on their farm. They're in their eighties. It matters more than most things I could be doing with my time.

Photography fits around that life, which suits me. I shoot on location. No studio, no controlled environment. Working across the South-West and beyond when the work calls for it.

Whatever the occasion, my approach stays the same: show up, get curious, and be alert to the moments that matter.
